Murray Area Chamber of Commerce
China Trip

Thank you for your interest in The Murray Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored trip to China in November 2008.  You will visit memorable sites, both ancient and modern, and enjoy a multitude of unforgettable experiences, of professional interest; you will also learn how the Chinese business system operates.

As you consider whether to travel along with other business people or just as the regular tourists like yourself, please do not hesitate to ask questions.  We recommend that you do some “homework” to help with your decisions.  Read a few travel guides.  Do some research on the Internet.  We are convinced that this will be one of the most unique trips you will have the opportunity to make.

Please do not wait too long to decide whether to accompany us, as space is limited.  We feel that this tour is an exceptional value.  The cost is $1,599 (per person, based on double-occupancy), and includes your round trip airfare from Los Angeles to China and back, 5-star or 4-star hotel accommodations, deluxe tour bus, a knowledgeable English-speaking tour guide in each city, three full meals every day, fees for all attractions and any applicable taxes.  A single room in all will cost an additional $340 and an upgrade to business class on the round trip flight is $4,500.  A refundable registration fee of $250 per person is required and due at the time you register and no later than July 1, 2008.  This will be deducted from your total tour fare, the balance of which will be due before September 1, 2008.  There will also be a charge of $25 per person to cover the tips for the entire trip.  The above amounts do NOT include transportation from Salt Lake to Las Angeles and back.

Securing or updating a passport is your responsibility and you may also take care of the required visa yourself.  However, if you wish us to handle the visa application, you will need to provide us with your passport, a signed visa application form, two passport photos and $165 before August 1, 2008.  We will return your passport to you in a timely manner.

Our Travel Partner has 29 years of experience in the China tour business and we feel confident that we can respond to your inquiries to your satisfaction.  Whether you have questions on tipping, taxis, luggage, lunches, customs or restrooms we will prepare you well for your adventure.

China is a modern country, so you need not feel as though you are preparing to travel back in time, to a less sophisticated society.  In many instances, the country is not “behind” so much as “different”.  For example, you will find very few ATM machines, but travelers’ checks and credit cards are accepted everywhere.  Leave your checkbooks and check cards behind.  The electricity in China is 220 volts and an adapter is required to operate even an American hair dryer.  However, both the adapter and the hair dryer are available at the hotels in which we will be staying.
